FAQs

  • How does it work?

At Carmel Tarot, your reading begins with a warm greeting and a brief intention setting session. Be prepared for other information to come through during readings. We’ve predicted babies, job switches, medication changes and a lot more that wasn’t on the cards.

  • What do I do?

Think of a situation in your life you want insight and clarity on. Your reader will have you set that intention in your mind, never out loud, and will ask you to place your hands on the cards before your reading, thinking of this situation and declaring in your mind, “Yes, I really do want insight and clarity on this.”

  • Okay, then what?

Your reader will then present you with a past, present, future insight reading based on cards you choose from the deck. Don’t overthink it, you’ll be guided through your experience. Remember, your reader just delivers the news, they don’t write it. While some readings can leave participants shaken, we also make sure you leave feeling clear and prepared for next steps after the insights you receive.

  • Can I bring someone with me?

Yes! But consider your privacy. It’s crucial to consider what you’ll ask a reader beforehand, then think very carefully about who you want to bring. Negative or angry people in your reading can majorly throw off the vibe or prevent you from asking follow-up questions. Nervousness is normal. Skepticism is wise. But blatant negativity can really ruin your experience. Like most of life, you’ll get out what you put in.

  • What if I don't believe in all this woo-woo?

You can still come. This is an entertainment experience. If you’re just looking for a fun activity for a party or a date, it’s okay to book a session and just have fun with it. However, the mindset of the participant has a lot to do with the reading they will receive. And remember, insight can still come through, even for skeptics, so consider yourself warned.

  • What should I tell my reader in advance?

Nothing. Keep everything to yourself. Readings are far more powerful for you the less information about you and your life the reader has before they begin.

  • When do I get to talk in the reading?

Your reader will make normal chit chat with you when you come in, but do allow your reading to unfold in full before you ask questions. Your reading should be an uninterrupted experience. Afterward, your reader will prompt you to see if you have any questions. At that time, by all means, ask away.

  • Do I get a keepsake?

Sort of! You’ll be invited to take a photo of your cards at the end of your reading. It’s a fun souvenir, but it can also be great fun to go home and look up the meanings of the cards and your particular spread. More meaning may emerge with time.

  • Prepare for homework.

Something that’s often missing from tarot is follow-through. Many people walk away and wonder, “Now what?” Your reader will give you some advice on concrete actions you can take to address your particular situation going forward.
